In 1959, CSD Credit Union was formed to provide the employees of CSD-1 (Hickman Mills School District) with an alternative to traditional for profit banking institutions. The first organizational meeting of the credit union was held in the Ruskin Cafeteria on March 19th, 1959. The credit union currently serves over 5,700 members throughout the Kansas City metropolitan area.

The field of membership has been expanded to include staff, students, alumni, and family members of students within several area school districts and private schools. In addition, anyone who works or lives in Jackson, Clay, or Platte counties in Missouri is eligible, as well as family members of current CSD account holders.
