Our History

In 1959, CSD Credit Union was formed to provide the employees of CSD-1 (Hickman Mills School District) with an alternative to traditional for profit banking institutions. The first organizational meeting of the credit union was held in the Ruskin Cafeteria on March 19th, 1959. Assets at the end of the first month were $534 and have since grown in excess of $71 million. The credit union currently serves over 6,300 members throughout the Kansas City metropolitan area.

The field of membership has been expanded to include staff, students, alumni and family members of students within the North Kansas City School District, Liberty School District, Park Hill School District, Hickman Mills School District, Grandview School District, Raymore-Peculiar School District, Center School District, Rockhurst High School, St. Michael the Archangel Catholic High School, St. Regis, Blue Ridge Christian School, Grandview Christian School, Our Lady of the Presentation Catholic School, Calvary Bible College and all Metropolitan Community College campuses.

CSD Credit Union is owned and operated by its members. Because we are a member-owned financial cooperative, members make up the Board of Directors with no outside stockholders.
